Mini Ulloo - Lisbon, Portugal

Pickpockets operate on this tram!
(Raj) Despite the warning in Sudesh's guidebook I carry on as usual! It was while on our way by a crowded tram to Castle of São Jorge when Samji was frisked that he asked me to check if I had my wallet. It was in the inside pocket of my jacket and it had been taken without me completely unaware of its removal by a thieving hand. We got off at our stop with me still searching to see if I had put my wallet in another pocket. I had not. Then a passenger still on the tram leant out of a window and called my name. I took my wallet and thanked the man. Luckily only some cash had been taken and not my credit cards or driving licence. Later the Ulloos made me report the theft to the police where some other tourists were also left without their cash and much more including a passport! This is not the first time this sort of thing has happened to me so I lived up to the motto "We Never Learn Guy!"
The picture shows a narrow lane close to the castle where we had a beer and saw the "amusing" side of it all!

(Raj) Taking the Santa Justa Lift to view a panorama of Lisbon at night.
Lisbon was a relaxing experience. During our limited time of two and a half days we did some sightseeing but could not see all the important sites.
On two evenings we ate in a superb Nepalese restaurant.

(Raj) Night view of the city with the Castle of São
Jorge spotlighted in the distance.

(Raj) We only got to see the Belém Tower at night. Below are some other pictures we took during the trip.

(Raj) In one darkened room in the Castle of
São Jorge visitors are shown a "real time" 360 degrees panoramic view of the city which is projected onto a round screen. The tour guide points out some sites of interests to the tourists.
